Full or Part Independent Living Skills

The vast majority of 16 to 24-year-old UK citizens journey from childhood to adulthood in a stable family's comfort and caring environment. For those who are expected to exist, endure and develop outside the family circle, life can be exceptionally challenging. Tasks which are simple for the majority of our 16 to 24-year-olds can be complex and practically impossible for those that find themselves trying to survive and exist outside of what society sees as standard living behaviours. It is estimated in the UK, there is a population of 300,000 in the age category of 16 to 24-year-olds who have not got full or part independent living skills. In the Nottingham Council Area this equates to 1,400– a disturbing fact.
